The South Hamilton Hawks baseball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the West Hancock Eagles in non-conference action at South Hamilton High School in Jewell. South Hamilton entered with a 5-10 record, while West Hancock entered at 1-12.
West Hancock would strike early with 2 runs coming in on RBI from Zach Beukema and Zephyr Jamtgaard to put the Eagles up 2-0. South Hamilton responded from there, matching the 2 runs in the frame to make it 2-2, before adding a run in the 2nd and the 3rd to make it 4-2. After a scoreless 4th, the Hawk bats came roaring back with 3 runs in the 5th and 4 runs in the 6th as the closed out an 11-2 victory.
Landen Sogard would go 3-for-4 at the plate with 3 RBI, 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Andrew Jensen would go 1-for-3 with a 2-run RBI single, while Braden Young went 1-for-4 with 2 RBI, a double and a sac fly. Young picked up the win on the mound, going 5 innings and allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and struck out 8.
South Hamilton baseball returns to action on Wednesday night, when they take on Nevada in Heart of Iowa Conference action.
