The South Hamilton Hawks softball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the drive to State Center to take on the (3A) #12 West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference action at West Marshall High School. South Hamilton entered at 10-11, while West Marshall entered at 16-4.
West Marshall put up a pair of runs in the 1st to take a 2-0 lead, before South Hamilton answered with 2 runs in the 2nd to tie the game at 2-2. West Marshall added a run in the 3rd to take a 3-2 lead, but South Hamilton would answer with 2 runs in the 5th to take a 4-3 lead. West Marshall’s bats then came to life for a prosperous 4-run 4th inning as the Trojans took a 7-4 lead. A run in the 6th made it 8-4, before South Hamilton mounted a rally that ultimately fell short in a 8-6 loss.
Stats were not available on Bound as of Tuesday morning, South Hamilton returns to action on Tuesday, when they host West Hancock at 5:30 PM at South Hamilton High School.
