The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the drive down to Des Moines to take on the Saydel Eagles in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Saydel High School. Roland-Story entered at 6-13, while Saydel entered at 7-7.
Roland-Story put up 2 runs in the first two innings to hold a 2-1 lead, before a 3-run inning put the Norsemen up 5-1. Saydel continued to hang around despite, putting up a run each in the 4th and 5th, and after a 6-run 6th put Roland-Story up 11-3, the Eagles matched with 5 runs in the bottom of the frame to make it 11-8. Saydel tied the game in the 7th at 11-11, before walking it off in the 8th for 12-11 win.
Keely Oberender went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI on the day, while Kate Berggren also went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI on the day. Miley Geise was charged with eh loss, pitching 5 innings allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits and striking out 5.
Roland-Story softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they host PCM in Heart of Iowa Conference action, beginning at 7:30 PM in Roland.
