The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip down to Des Moines to take on the Saydel Eagles in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Jim Gebhart Field. Roland-Story entered at 12-8, while Saydel entered at 15-7.
After a scoreless first, Saydel put up a big 7-run 2nd inning to jump out to a 7-0 lead. The Eagles put up 2 runs in the 4th to make it 9-0, before plating the deciding run in the 5th to end the game with a 10-0, 5 inning victory.
William Zamzow went 2-for-2 in the game with a pair of singles, while Jake Knoll was charged with the loss, pitching 3 innings, allowing 7 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits and striking out 1 batter.
Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Rippey to take on Ankeny Christian in a doubleheader at Walt Anderson Field, beginning at 5:30 PM.
