The South Hamilton Hawks softball team returned to action on Friday and Saturday, as they competed at the annual Kiwanis Tournament at the Hennessey Diamonds in Roland. Other teams at the Kiwanis Tournament included the hosts Roland-Story, ADM, Benton Community, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Gilbert, Iowa Falls-Alden, Mount Vernon, North Polk, Perry and Solon.
South Hamilton started their tournament on Friday morning by knocking off Iowa Falls-Alden by a score of 4-2. The Hawks led 4-0 in the 6th before 2 IF-A runs, but the Hawks would shut down the Cadets in the 7th. The Hawks would end the day with a loss to (3A) #5 Estherville-Lincoln Central by a final of 10-0 in 5 innings.
The Hawks would come back on Saturday and pull an upset of (3A) #10 Solon in Game 2 of the day, knocking off the Spartans by a score of 5-4. South Hamilton would end their day with a 7-2 loss to (4A) #1 North Polk by a final of 7-2, the only team to put up a run against the Comets in the tournament.
Stats were not available on Bound as of Monday morning. South Hamilton softball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to State Center to take on (3A) #12 West Marshall in Heart of Iowa Conference action at 7:30 PM.
