The South Hamilton Hawks baseball team returned to action on Friday night, as they welcomed in the Southeast Valley Jaguars in non-conference action at South Hamilton High School in Jewell. South Hamilton entered with a record of 4-9, while Southeast Valley entered at 4-7.
After a scoreless first, the Hawks would find a prosperous 2nd inning, plating 5 runs in the frame to take a 5-0 lead. Southeast Valley would plate a run off a Casey Hanson RBI single to cut the score to 5-1 in the 3rd. From there, the scoring would stop as pitching from both sides shut down the opposing offenses as South Hamilton cruised to a 5-1 win.
Landon Sogard would have an exceptional start, pitching the complete game, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and striking out a career-high 15 batters. Tjerdan Johnson would go 1-for-3 with 2 RBI, while Landon Greufe would go 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and a run scored.
South Hamilton returns to action on Monday night, when they travel to State Center to take on (2A) #1 West Marshall in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Schilling Field with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
