The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Friday and Saturday, as they hosted their annual Kiwanis Tournament at the Hennessey Diamonds in Roland. The Norsemen were joined by ADM, Benton Community, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Gilbert, Mount Vernon, Nevada, North Polk, Perry, Solon and South Hamilton.
Roland-Story would open their tournament with a solid 10-6 win over Iowa Falls-Alden, with a majority of the runs coming after the 4th inning. Peyton Jeter would have a big day at the plate as she went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple and 4 RBI on the day. Miley Geise would go 1-for-4 with 2 RBI, while also pitching all 7 innings, allowing 6 runs (3 earned) on 10 hits and striking out 2.
The Norsemen followed with a 12-0 loss to (4A) #1 North Polk on Friday night, before turning around and facing off with (3A) #5 Estherville-Lincoln Central. Roland-Story would fall by a final of 12-1, before ending the tournament on Saturday night with a 17-2 loss to (3A) #2 Benton Community.
Roland-Story softball dropped to 6-13 after the tournament, as the Norsemen return to action on Monday when they travel to Des Moines to take on Saydel in Heart of Iowa Conference action, with first pitch at 7 PM.
