The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Friday night, as they hosted the Broncos of Belmond-Klemme in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 8-3, while Belmond-Klemme entered at 6-11.
Eagle Grove jumped all over the Broncos from the get out, putting up 4 runs in the first and a run in 2nd to take a 5-0 lead. Belmond-Klemme put up 2 runs in the 3rd to cut it to 5-2, but the Eagles would respond by putting up a run each in the 4th, 5th and 2 runs in the 6th to take a 9-2 lead. Eagle Grove would close it out in the top of 7th to secure the 9-2 win.
Nadia Kaiser would go 2-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI, while Crystal Flores went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles, an RBI and 3 runs scored. Brooklyn Osborn picked up the win, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and striking out 4.
The Eagles would turn around and compete in the West Hancock Tournament on Saturday, opening the day by taking on Manson-Northwest Webster. Eagle Grove would fall by a final of 7-5, as Tarissa Middleton went 2-for-3 with 2 RBII, while Nadia Kaiser drove in a run on a sacrifice.
Eagle Grove would bounce back with a 19-2, 3 inning victory over West Hancock in the afternoon. Chloe Steil had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with 4 RBI, as Nadia Kaiser went 1-for-2 with 3 RBI, and Addy Jeske went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Mya Morgan got the win in the circle, pitching 3 innings and allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out 3.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Algona to take on Bishop Garrigan in Top of Iowa West action at 6 PM.
