The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip west into Pocahontas County to take on the Indians of Pocahontas Area in non-conference action at the Pocahontas Sports Complex. Webster City entered at 10-4, while Pocahontas Area entered at 8-6.
Webster City got off to a fast start on Thursday, putting up 4 runs in the 1st to take a 4-0 lead. Pocahontas answered with a run in the 1st to make it 4-1, and following a Webster City run in the 2nd, the Indians put up 5 runs in the 2nd to make it 6-5. The Lynx reclaimed the lead in the 4th with 2 runs to make it 7-6, but Pocahontas put up 5 runs in the bottom of the frame to make it 11-7. Webster City put up 2 more runs in the 6th to make it 11-9, but a Pocahontas insurance run secured a 12-9 victory.
Senior Addy Tesdahl would come up a single short of the cycle, as she went 3-for-5 with a home run, triple and double. Ava Peterson went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, while Jakaela Cherry went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI. Cherry was charged with the loss in the circle, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing 11 runs (7 earned) on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts and 8 walks.
Webster City softball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Fort Dodge to take on (1A) #5 St. Edmond in a major North Central Conference clash at 7:30 PM on 95.7 KQWC or online at kqradio.com.
