The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they made the trip to Kossuth County to take on the Algona Bulldogs in North Central Conference action at Algona High School. Webster City entered at 9-4, while Algona entered at 5-6.
Wednesday would be a pitchers duel between Webster City’s Delainey Bargfrede and Algona’s Ryan Haynes, with both pitchers working shutouts through the first 5 innings. However, it was Haynes and Algona that would be the first to blink, allowing 2 runs in the 6th inning, including a Jakaela Cherry RBI that put Webster City up 2-0. Bargfrede did not waiver in the final 2 innings as she finished off the 2-0 victory for the Lynx.
Bargfrede pitched the complete game, allowing no runs on just 2 hits and a career-high 17 strikeouts on Wednesday night. Her counterpart Ryan Haynes pitched the complete game, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out 4.
Webster City softball returns to action on Thursday night, as they travel to Pocahontas to take on Pocahontas Area in non-conference action at 5:30 PM.
