The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they made the trip into Kossuth County to take on the Algona Bulldogs in North Central Conference action at Algona High School. Webster City entered at 9-6, while Algona entered at 14-4.
Part 2 of this series would go differently as Webster City struck 1st with a Braylon Dyvig RBI single in the 2nd to jump out to a 1-0 lead. Algona would take the lead back in the 3rd off an Aiden Ulrich sac fly and a Lynx error to take a 2-1 lead. That lead lasted until the 5th when Webster City reclaimed the lead off RBI singles from Briar Klaver and Matt Tesdahl to take a 3-2 lead. Algona responded with 2 runs in the 5th to take a 4-3 lead, before the game went into a near-hour delay for lightning. After the delay, Algona put up 2 more runs in the 6th as they capped a 6-3 victory.
Briar Klaver would go 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and an RBI for the Lynx, while Matt Tesdahl and Braylon Dyvig both tallied RBI for the Lynx. Keegan Hisler was charged with the loss in relief, pitching 2 innings and allowing 3 runs (1 earned) off 2 hits and striking out 3.
Webster City baseball returns to action on Friday, when they host Boone in non-conference action at Webster City High School at 7:30 PM.
