The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they made the trip to Jefferson to take on the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Greene County Middle School. Roland-Story entered Wednesday with a record of 11-8, while Greene County entered at 1-10.
For the 2nd conference game in a row, the Norsemen jumped out of the gates quickly, plating 2 runs in the 1st and 2nd inning each to take a 4-0 lead. The Norsemen bats would reappear in the later innings, plating 2 runs in the 5th and 3 more runs in the 6th as Roland-Story capped a 9-0 shutout win.
Brett Schmitz would have the top day at the plate for the Norsemen, going 3-for-5 with a double, 2 singles and 4 RBI, while Sam Knoll, Collin Willis, Jake Knoll and Tucker Hawkins all drove in runs. Cael Faber pitched the complete game, allowing no runs on 2 hits and striking out 8 batters.
Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Monday, when the Norsemen travel to Des Moines to face Saydel in Heart of Iowa Conference action at 7:30 PM.
