The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they made the trip east to Hardin County to take on the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action in Iowa Falls. CGD entered at 6-8, while IF-A entered at 1-9.
After a scoreless first two innings, IF-A got on board in the bottom of the 3rd with 3 runs to take a 3-0 lead. The Cadets put another run on the board in the 5th to extend their lead to 4-0, before CGD put up a run in the 6th to cut it to 4-1. IF-A put up another run in the 6th to make it 5-1, before CGD mounted a rally in the 7th. The Cowboys plated 2 runs, but couldn’t get the two more to extend the game in a 5-3 loss.
Huxley Lingenfelter would have the lone CGD RBI on the night in a pinch-hit appearance, while Landen Kakacek went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Ethan Hasty picked up the loss, pitching 3 innings and allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and striking out 5.
