The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the (3A) #15 West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Hennessey Diamonds in Roland. Roland-Story entered with a record of 4-9, while West Marshall entered at 12-2.
It would be a quiet start to Tuesday’s game, but West Marshall put up 2 runs in the 3rd to take a 2-0 lead. Roland-Story answered in the 5th with a run of their own on a wild pitch to bring the score to 2-1. However, the Trojans would break it open late, putting up 4 runs in the 6th and 3 runs in the 7th to close a 9-1 victory.
Sophomore Keely Oberender would go 2-for-3 on the night with a pair of singles, while 8th Grader Lauren Crabbs went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Miley Geise was charged with the loss despite pitching well, allowing 6 runs (0 earned) on 8 hits and striking out 7.
Roland-Story softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they take on Greene County at the Jefferson Softball Park at 7:30 PM.
