The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip to the south side of Des Moines to take on the Des Moines Lincoln Railsplitters in non-conference action at the Rails Academy and Sports Complex in Des Moines. Roland-Story entered at 10-7, while Lincoln entered at 9-9.
Game 1 saw the Norsemen get on the board in the 3rd with an Aiden Frey RBI Double to put Roland-Story up 1-0. That 1-0 margin would last until the 6th, as Roland-Story put up 2 more runs off a William Zamzow RBI single and a Sam Knoll RBI single to put the Norsemen ahead 3-0. However, Norsemen errors gave way to a 6th inning rally from the Railsplitters, as Lincoln put up 4 runs in the 6th to take a 4-3 lead and close out a 4-3 win in game 1.
Game 2 saw a more offensive battle as Roland-Story put up 2 runs in the top of the 1st, answered by 3 Lincoln runs in the bottom of the 1st to make the score 3-2. Another Norsemen run, followed by 2 Railsplitter runs in the 2nd put Lincoln ahead 5-3. The Norsemen offense would pick back up in the 4th, plating 2 runs there and 4 runs in the top of the 5th to take a 9-6 lead. Lincoln would bring home a run in the 7th, but Roland-Story closed out a 9-7 win.
Roland-Story baseball improved to 11-8 with the win, and return to action on Wednesday night, as they travel to Jefferson to take on Greene County in Heart of Iowa Conference action at 7:30 PM.
