The South Hamilton Hawks baseball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip to Jefferson to take on the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Greene County Middle School. South Hamilton entered at 3-7, while Greene County entered at 0-10.
South Hamilton jumped on the board first with a run in the top of the 2nd to go ahead 1-0, but Greene County answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the frame to go up 2-1. The 4th inning saw everything unravel for the Hawks, allowing 10 runs in the inning as Greene County jumped ahead 12-1. The Hawks put up 2 in the 5th and a run in the 6th, but it wasn’t nearly enough as Greene County got win #1 of the year by a final of 12-4.
Tjerdan Johnson would go 1-for-3 on the night with 2 RBI, while Preston Van De Pol went 3-for-3 at the plate. Landon Sogard was charged with the loss, allowing 8 runs on 11 hits, and only struck out 8 batters.
South Hamilton baseball returns to action on Wednesday, when they host Perry in Heart of Iowa Conference action at South Hamilton High School at 7:30 PM.
