The South Hamilton Hawks state championship 4×400 relay from this spring will have one more chance to compete as a squad this coming Sunday, as the team will make the trek to the Eastern seaboard to compete in the annual New Balance Outdoor National Track Meet, held at historic Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
The Philadelphia-based track meet welcomes in the top high school athletes from around the country each year to compete against one another in the 3rd weekend of June. Notable alumni of the meet include 2020 Olympic 400m hurdle Gold Medalist Sydney McLaughlin and 2020 Olympic Shot Put Silver Medalist Raven Saunders.
The team of Ty Koehnk, Reece Ricke, Nick Severseike and Kolby Hodnefield will have the final chance to compete as a unit, following their wins in the 4×200 and 4×400 in the 2A State Track Meet in May, and a 2nd-place finish in the 4×400 in April’s Drake Relays.
The Boys 4×400 is scheduled to run at 3:04 PM on Sunday, June 16th and will be streamed live on the New Balance YouTube page.
