The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the Perry Bluejays in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered with a record of 9-7, while Perry entered at 6-8.
Monday night would belong to the Norsemen, with Roland-Story picking up 2 runs in the 1st, followed by a run in the 2nd to take a 3-0 lead. That lead would more than double in the 3rd, with the Norsemen plating 4 runs to go up 7-0, before adding a run in the 4th and 2 in the 5th that ended the game as a 10-0 shutout in 5 innings.
Brett Schmitz pitched the complete game, allowing no runs on 1 hit in 5 innings, and striking out 4. 8th Grader Colin Willis would go 1-for-2 at the plate with 2 RBI, while freshman Aiden Frey went 2-for-3 on the day.
Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Des Moines to take on Des Moines Lincoln in a non-conference doubleheader at the Rails Academy & Sports Complex in Des Moines.
