The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Monday night, as they welcomed in the Forest City Indians in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 6-7, while Forest City entered at 6-5.
The early goings of the game was a defensive battle, with the Indians and Eagles each trading a run in the 3rd to make it 1-1, before Forest City took the lead at 3-1 after a 2-run 4th inning. Eagle Grove would get a run closer in the 5th to make it 3-2, but Forest City added a run in the 6th, before scoring 5 runs in the 7th to cap off a 9-2 victory.
Brett Ascherl would hit the only RBI on the night for the Eagles, going 1-for-2 as well, while Jake Jeske went 2-for-3 on Monday night. Nolan Krauss was charged with the loss, pitching 6 innings and allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits and striking out 4.
Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Britt to take on West Hancock in Top of Iowa West action at 7:30 PM.
