Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball falls at home to St. Edmond, 5-1

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball team returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the Gaels of Fort Dodge, St. Edmond in North Central Conference action at CGD High School. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows entered with a record of 5-7, while St. Edmond entered at 5-3.

Monday would be pitchers duel between CGD’s Carson Nesheim and St. Edmond’s Hayden Derrig, as the Cowboys got the first run courtesy of Landen Kakacek to take a 1-0 lead. However, the St. Edmond bats came to life in the 4th and 5th, putting up 2 runs in the 4th and 3 runs in the 5th to take a 5-1 lead, a margin that wound up being the final score.

Carson Nesheim still managed to pitch the complete game, allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits and striking out 16 batters, following his perfect game against Southeast Valley on Thursday. St. Edmond’s Hayden Derrig pitched a complete game, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 12.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Rockford to take on the Warriors in non-conference action at 5:30 PM.
