Roland-Story softball goes 2-1 at OABCIG Tournament

The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Friday and Saturday, as they competed in the OABCIG Tournament in Battle Creek. Roland-Story entered the weekend with a record of 2-7.

Roland-Story opened the tournament on Friday, as they fell to (1A) #7 Newell-Fonda by a final score of 5-1. Keely Oberender went 2-for-4 on the day, while Miley Geise drove in the lone Norsemen run. Geise was charged with the loss, pitching 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and striking out 2.

On Saturday, the Norsemen opened the day with a 10-6 win over MVAOCOU. Kate Berggren went 3-for-4 with 3 singles and 2 RBI, while Peyton Jeter went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI. Miley Geise picked up the win, pitching 4.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and striking out 3 batters.

The Norsemen finished the day with a 12-0 shutout over the Raiders of East Sac County. Eva Corcoran would have a big game, going 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI, as 8th Grader Kennedy Hodnefield went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. Hodnefield also pitched 6 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits and striking out 5 batters.

Roland-Story improved their record to 4-8, and return to action on Monday night, when they host Perry at the Hennessey Diamonds in Roland at 6 PM.
