The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Friday night, as they hosted the (2A) #2 West Marshall Trojans in a Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered with a record of 9-5, while West Marshall entered at 15-1.
West Marshall would put up a run in the top of the 1st to take a 1-0 lead, but the majority of the contest would be a pitchers duel. The Trojans finally broke the game open in the 6th, putting up 4 runs to take a 5-0 lead, before putting up a run in the 7th to close a 6-0 win. 8th Grader Colin Willis pitched well in the loss, going 5.2 innings, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and striking out 4, as Willis also went 1-for-2 with a single.
Game 2 saw an even closer contest, as West Marshall put up a run in the 2nd to take a 1-0 lead. That would be the only run of the contest as the Trojans clung to a 1-0 victory. Noah DeSotel pitched the complete game shutout, allowing no runs on 4 hits and striking out 7. Roland-Story sophomore Cael Faber pitched the complete game allowing 1 run on 6 hits and striking out 5.
