The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip east on Highway 20 to take on the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action at Iowa Falls-Alden High School. Webster City entered at 6-1 and #14 in Class 4A, while IF-A entered at 3-4.
After the first two innings went scoreless, Webster City got on the board with RBI from Bonnie Nohrenberg and Delainey Bargfrede to take a 3-0 lead. The Lynx added another run in the 5th off an Iowa Falls-Alden error to lead 4-0, before Cloe Savitski hit her first career home run in the 6th to put Webster City up 5-0. Iowa Falls-Alden would have response, putting 3 runs in the 6th thanks to a pair of Webster City errors to bring the score to 5-3, but the Lynx ended the IF-A threat in the 7th with a lineout-throw out double play to end the game.
Cloe Savitski went 1-for-3 with her first career home run, while Delainey Bargfrede went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Bargfrede pitched the complete game allowing 3 runs (1 earned) off 7 hits and struck out 11 batters.
Webster City softball returns to action on Friday, when they host (4A) #5 Carlisle at Webster City High School at 7:30 PM.
