Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball falls at home against Humboldt, 17-5

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they welcomed in the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action at CGD High School in Clarion. CGD entered with a record of 4-5, while Humboldt entered at 7-2.

Humboldt’s high-powered offense showed off early and often on Wednesday, putting up 6 runs in the 1st, 3 in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd to take an 11-1 lead. CGD would put up 2 runs in the 4th to make it 11-3, but Humboldt put the pedal to the medal in the 5th with 6 more runs to go up 17-3. The Cowboys put up 2 runs in the 5th, but it was not enough to keep the game going as Humboldt won 17-5 in 5 innings.

Nick Sisson had the top night at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a 2-run RBI double. Sisson was the losing pitcher of record, allowing 11 runs (9 earned) on 7 hits and striking out 4 batters.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Dayton to take on Southeast Valley in non-conference action at 7:30 PM.
