South Hamilton baseball falls at home to PCM, 9-3

The South Hamilton Hawks baseball team returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at South Hamilton High School in Jewell. South Hamilton entered at 2-5, while PCM entered at 4-5.

South Hamilton was able to jump ahead initially with a run in the first to take a 1-0 lead, but PCM would follow with 3 runs in the 2nd, a run in the 3rd and 3 more runs in the 4th to take a 7-1 lead. After a scoreless 5th, the Mustangs added 2 more runs to take a 9-1 lead after the top of the 6th. South Hamilton added 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to cut the deficit to 6, but PCM would hold for the 9-3 win.

Owen Duns would go 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and a single, while Landon Sogard went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a single. Prestin Van De Pol pitched 3.2 innings, allowing 7 runs (6 earned) on 9 hits and striking out 1, while being charged with the loss.

South Hamilton returns to action on Tuesday night, as they host the Ballard Bombers at 7:30 PM.
