The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered at 4-5, while GHV entered at 5-1.
Eagle Grove would take the lead off the bat with a run in the 1st to make it 1-0. GHV would tie it up in the 2nd at 1-1, before taking a lead in the top of the 4th at 3-1. Eagle Grove responded in the 4th with 5 runs to take a 6-3 lead. From there, the Cardinals mounted a comeback with a run in the 5th, 2 runs to tie it in the 6th and 2 runs for the lead in the 7th as GHV capped off an 8-6 victory.
Syrus Willard would go 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Trenton Robinson went 1-for-3 with an RBI Double. Brett Ascherl would also have 2 RBI on the day, while Syrus Willard was charged with the loss, pitching 2.2 innings of relief, allowing 4 runs on 2 hits and striking out 6 batters.
Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Nevada at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove at 7 PM.
