The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip to Wright County to take on the Cowgirls of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in North Central Conference action at CGD High School in Clarion. Webster City entered at 2-0, while CGD entered at 0-4.
It would be a steady climb for the Lynx throughout, putting up a run in the 1st, 2 runs each in the 2nd and 3rd, and 3 runs each in the 4th and 5th as Webster City came away with an 11-1, 5 inning victory. Senior Ava Peterson continued her torrid start, as she went 4-for-4 with 3 RBI and a double, while Bonnie Nohrenberg went 1-for-4 with a 2 RBI single. Delainey Bargfrede pitched all 5 innings, allowing 1 run off 2 hits and striking out 9 batters.
Webster City followed up with the Perry Tournament on Saturday, as the Lynx opened their day with the host Jayettes. The Lynx came away with a 7-1 win, as Ellie Weinschenk went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, while Cloe Savitski went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Delainey Bargfrede pitched all 6 innings, allowing 1 run off 5 hits and striking out 10.
The Lynx ended the day with a 10-0 loss to (2A) #1 Van Meter, as the Lynx trailed 2-0 after 4 innings, before Van Meter put up 8 runs in the 5th to end the game. Van Meter’s Maddie Waldorf pitched a no-hitter, striking out 10 batters in the 5 innings.
Webster City softball improved to 4-1 on the weekend, and return to action on Monday night when they travel to Humboldt to take on the Wildcats at 7:30 PM.
