The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip into Wright County to take on Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in North Central Conference action at CGD High School in Clarion. The Lynx entered at 3-3, while CGD entered at 2-4.
Webster City wasted little time in jumping on the Cowboys with 3 runs in the top of the first off a Briar Klaver 2-run RBI single and a Josh Griep RBI groundout. The Lynx put 2 more runs on the board with an Aidan Hrnicek run and a Josh Stansfield RBI single to take a 5-0 lead. After putting up a run in the 3rd, Webster City put up 5 runs in the 4th, 3 off of a Jaxon Griffith bases-clearing RBI triple to go up 11-0. Braylon Dyvig would shut things down in the 5th to give the Lynx an 11-0, 5 inning victory.
The Lynx would follow this up with a trip to the Newell-Fonda Tournament on Saturday, the first game saw Webster City fall to Don Bosco by a score of 8-3. Trevyn Lyons would wind up going 1-for-3 with an RBI double, while Josh Griep went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Aiden Hrnicek went 2-for-2 with an RBI, while pitching 3.1 innings in relief, striking out 3 batters and allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits.
Webster City would pick up a win to cap the tournament over the hosts in Newell-Fonda by a score of 3-2. Trevyn Lyons would go 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double, while Josh Griep went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Matt Tesdahl picked up the win in relief, pitching 2 innings and allowed no runs on 1 hit and struck out 1 batter.
Webster City improved to 5-4 over the weekend, and return to action on Monday as they take on Humboldt in Humboldt at 7:30 PM.
