The South Hamilton Hawks baseball team returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip to Story County to take on the Nevada Cubs at the SCORE Athletic Complex in Nevada. South Hamilton entered at 2-4, while Nevada entered at 4-3.
Nevada put up 3 runs in the top of the 1st to take a 3-0 lead. Scoring would pause until the 5th inning, when South Hamilton picked up a run to cut it to 3-1, before Nevada answered with 2 runs in the 5th and a run in the 6th to make it 6-1. South Hamilton would put up a run in the 7th, but would fall short by a final of 6-2.
Tjerdan Johnson would go 1-for-3 with and RBI single, while Prestin Van De Pol went 1-for-4 with a triple. Landon Sogard picked up the loss, allowing 5 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits and struck out 4 batters.
South Hamilton returns to action on Monday, when they host PCM in Heart of Iowa Conference action at South Hamilton High School in Jewell at 7:30 PM.
