The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the Gaels of St. Edmond in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 3-3, while St. Edmond entered at 3-1.
Webster City would jump on the Gaels early, plating a run in the bottom of the 1st to take a 1-0 lead. The Lynx would then add 4 more runs in the 3rd to take a 5-0 lead. However, the Gaels were not to go quietly, putting up a 5-piece in the top of the 4th to tie the game at 5-5. In the bottom of the 4th, things fully unraveled for the Gaels, as they allowed 15 Lynx runs in the frame as Webster City ended the game with a 20-5, 4 inning victory.
Jaxon Griffith had the most productive day at the plate, driving in 3 runs while going 1-for-3 with a single and 2 walks drawn. Matthew Tesdahl, Keegan Hisler, Josh Stansfield and Trevyn Lyons would all drive in 2 RBI each as well for Webster City, while sophomore Gavin Griffith pitched all 4 innings, allowing 5 runs (1 earned) off 3 hits and struck out 4.
