The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the Saydel Eagles in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered Wednesday at 7-3, while Saydel entered at 7-1.
Wednesday’s 1st inning would be a scoreless one, but Saydel would blow the doors open in the 2nd with 7 runs in the frame to make it 7-0. The Eagles added 2 more runs in the 3rd to make it 9-0, but couldn’t put the game away early. It was not until the 7th inning where Saydel put 3 more runs on the board and would close out the 12-0 shutout of the Norsemen.
Collin Willis and Tyler Lambert would be the only Norsemen to register hits on the night, as Willis tallied 3 innings of relief pitching, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) off 4 hits and struck out 3. Saydel freshman Brady Hicks would pitch a complete game, 1-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts.
Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to PCM to take on the Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action.
