The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they made the trip east on Highway 3 to take on Hampton-Dumont-CAL in North Central Conference action in Hampton. CGD entered at 0-2, while HD-CAL entered at 1-2.
Hampton wasted little time in jumping on the Cowgirls, putting up 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st to put HD-CAL up 3-0. The Bulldogs added 2 runs in the 3rd, and finally 4 runs in the 6th as they would come away with a 9-0 shutout victory.
Tess Wibholm recorded the only hit for the Cowgirls on the night, as HD-CAL pitcher Aspen Harlan would pitch the complete game, 1-hit shutout, striking out 8 batters. Wibhilm would pitch 6 innings, allowing 9 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits and striking out 9 batters.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Thursday, when they host West Fork in non-conference action at CGD High School.
