The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trek across Wright County to take on Belmond-Klemme in Top of Iowa West Conference action at Belmond-Klemme High School. Eagle Grove entered at 2-3, while Belmond-Klemme entered at 0-3.
Eagle Grove would immediately jump on the winless Broncos, putting up 3 runs in the 1st and 2 runs in the 2nd to take a 5-0 lead. The Eagles would then put up a run in the 5th to make it 6-0, before Belmond-Klemme plated 2 runs on a Braden Dougherty RBI double to bring the score to 6-2. Eagle Grove would then hand it off to the bullpen to seal the 6-2 victory.
Jake Jeske had the top day for the Eagles, pitching 6 innings, allowing 2 unearned runs off 2 hits and struck out 14 batters, while also going 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, a double and 4 stolen bases. Mack Morgan and Drake Canavan also contributed RBI for the Eagles, while senior Talon Carpenter locked down the 7th with 1 hit allowed and a strikeout.
Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Bishop Garrigan at Greenwood Park.
