The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they made the trip west into Pocahontas County to take on Newell-Fonda in non-conference action in Fonda. The Lynx entered at 1-1, while the Mustangs of Newell-Fonda also entered at 0-2.
Webster City would get off to a fast start on Wednesday, plating 3 in the top of the 1st off RBI from Josh Stansfield and Matthew Tesdahl to put the Lynx up 3-0. Newell-Fonda would get a run back in the 4th to make it 3-1, before Webster City went to the bullpen in the 6th inning. Newell-Fonda would take the lead with 3 runs off the Lynx bullpen, and would shut the Lynx down in the 7th to steal a 4-3 win. Sophomore Braylon Dyvig pitched a no-decision with 1 run off 3 hits, while striking out 5 batters, senior Briar Klaver was charged with the loss by allowing 3 runs off 2 hits in the 6th inning.
Lynx baseball returns to action on Friday, when they host Algona to open their North Central Conference schedule at Webster City High School.
