Eagle Grove baseball blows out West Hancock, 16-1

The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they hosted the West Hancock Eagles in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 1-2, while West Hancock was in their season-opener.

West Hancock would strike first with a Zach Beukema solo home run to lead 1-0, but Eagle Grove would take the lead at 2-1 after the first. The Eagles would build on their lead with 3 runs in the 2nd, 5 runs in the 3rd and 6 more runs in the 4th to take clinch a 16-1 victory.

Sophomore Syrus Willard would have a career-day, going 3-for-3 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI and 6 stolen bases. Jake Jeske would go 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, a single and a double, while also stealing 4 bases. Nolan Krauss picked up the win, pitching 4 innings and allowing 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 8 batters.

Eagle Grove returns to action on Thursday night, as they host Pocahontas Area at Greenwood Park at 7:30 PM.
