The Webster City Lynx and Eagle Grove Eagles baseball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they took on one another at Webster City High School in non-conference action for Webster City’s season opener.
After a scoreless 1st inning, Webster City opened the flood gates with 6 runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 6-0 lead. After putting up a run in the 3rd, the Lynx put up 6 more runs in the 4th to take a 13-0 lead, before sitting the Eagles down quickly in the 5th to finish the game in 5 innings.
Keegan Hisler would have an outstanding night on the mound and at the plate, as he pitched all 5 innings, allowing just 1 hit with 7 strikeouts, while going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and 3 RBI on the night. Senior left fielder Josh Griep would go 1-for-2 with a single and 2 RBI on the night as well. Eagle Grove stats were not available on Bound as of Wednesday morning.
Webster City baseball returns to action on Thursday, when they host Ballard at Webster City High School. Eagle Grove returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Forest City to open up Top of Iowa West Play.
