The Roland-Story Norsemen, South Hamilton Hawks and Eagle Grove Eagles track teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they competed in their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Dallas Kray Track in Story City. Joining the Norsemen, Hawks and Eagles, were Colfax-Mingo, Des Moines Christian, Iowa Falls-Alden, PCM, Pella Christian, Pleasantville, Southeast Valley, West Central Valley and Woodward-Granger.
Roland-Story would see a stellar night from their girls, as they claimed the team title with 112 points. The Norsemen girls would see just two wins, first coming in the long jump as Adalyn Sporleder won with a jump of 16′ 11″, as the 4×100 won in a time of 50.31 with the team of Sporleder-Petersen-Kilstofte-Lande. Roland-Story would place 2nd in the 4×200 in a time of 1:45.61 with the team of Sporleder-Petersen-Kilstofte-Lande, while also placing 2nd in the sprint medley in a time of 1:51.48 with the same quartet of Sporleder-Kilstofte-Petersen-Lande. The Norsemen girls shuttle hurdle would place 2nd in 1:09.65 with the team of Jondle-Lucas-Scarrow-Helgeson. Kam Lande also placed 2nd in the 200m Dash in a time of 26.22.
Roland-Story’s boys would see just one auto qualifier, as the 4×800 placed 2nd in 8:29.11 with the team of Kilstofte-Clark-Dahlsten-Voga. Other notable performances saw the Shuttle Hurdle team place 2nd in a time of 1:02.80 with the team of Berggren-Long-Barber-Strum, while the 4×100 place 3rd in a time of 44.40 with the team of Carlson-McIlrath-Berggren-Knoll. Evan Voga would place 3rd in the 1600m Run in a time of 4:45.38, while CJ Lucchesi was 4th in the 3200m Run in a time of 10:45.34.
South Hamilton’s boys would see a number of automatic qualifiers on Thursday, the first coming in the sprint medley, winning in a season-best time of 1:33.92 with the team of Severseike-Gunderson-Hodnefield-Koehnk. This would be followed up by a 2nd place finish in the distance medley in a time of 3:42.62 with the team of Severseike-Drake-Ricke-Coburn, and a 1-2 finish in the 400m Run, as Ty Koehnk won in a new 2A-best time of 49.51, while Kolby Hodnefield was 2nd in a time of 50.32. The Hawks would immediately follow up with a 2nd place finish in the 4×200, placing 2nd in a time of 1:31.22 with the team of Hodnefield-Ricke-Severseike-Koehnk, before winning the final event of the night in the 4×400 in a time of 3:23.00 with the team of Koehnk-Ricke-Severseike-Hodnefield.
South Hamilton’s girls would see a couple of automatic qualifiers, the first coming in the 400m Dash as freshman Cici Herrick placed 2nd in a time of 1:04.68, before the Hawks placed 2nd in the 4×400 in a time of 4:12.77 with the team of Doolittle-Galetich-Thompson-Erickson. Other notable performances saw the Sprint Medley finish 3rd in a time of 1:54.50 with the team of Flaugh-Galetich-Thompson-Erickson, as well as a 3rd place finish in the 4×200 in a time of 1:49.04 with the team of Galetich-Doolittle-Erickson-Thompson. The Hawks would also get a 3rd place finish from the 4×100 in a time of 51.88 with the team of Flaugh-Galetich-Erickson-Thompson.
Eagle Grove would see just one qualifier between the two teams, as Addy Jeske placed 2nd in the girls long jump with a mark of 16′ 10.75″. Other notable performances saw Ayden Feske place 4th in the 100m Dash in 12.95 and 4th in the 200m Dash in 27.44, while Drake Canavan placed 6th in the 400m Dash in a time of 53.66.
