The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows track teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the drive east into Grundy County to compete in their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Dike-New Hartford High School. The Cowboys and Cowgirls were joined by Alburnett, Aplington-Parkersburg, Beckman Catholic, Central Springs, Dike-New Hartford, East Marshall, Hudson, Oelwein, South Hardin, Union Community and West Marshall.
CGD would not see any auto qualifiers, but saw some notable performances. Mason Allen placed 3rd in the discus with a throw of 137′ 4″, while Mikayla Beisel finished 3rd in the high jump, clearing 5′ even. Beisel also placed 4th in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:11.46, while placing 5th in the long jump with a mark of 15′ 9.5″.
CGD awaits for at-large qualifiers to see if any athletes qualify for the 2A State Meet.
