The Webster City Lynx boys soccer team returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action at Lynx Field. Webster City entered at 12-0, while Humboldt entered at 11-1.
Thursday’s game would be the decider as to Webster City clinching an outright conference title, or a shared conference title, as the Lynx got out of the gate slow, as Humboldt got their first goal off an own goal in the 39th minute as the Wildcats lead 1-0 at halftime. Webster City would respond as Eduardo Perez nailed the equalizer in the 56th minute to tie the score at 1-1. However, the Wildcats would convert on a corner kick in the 64th minute to take a 2-1 lead, and would hold on to upset the undefeated Lynx.
Webster City and Humboldt will split the NCC Title for the 2nd year in a row, as the Lynx wrap up the regular season on Friday night, as they take on Fort Dodge at Dodger Stadium.
