The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys golf teams returned to action on Monday morning, as they made the trip to Fort Dodge to compete in the annual North Central Conference Tournament at Fort Dodge Country Club. The Lynx and Cowboys were joined by NCC members Algona, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.
Webster City would place 3rd in the tournament with a team score of 318 (+30), as Humboldt claimed the team title with a 309 (+21) and Clear Lake was runner-up with a 317 (+29). Junior Cael Nixon would put together his best tournament of the year, placing 3rd with a 75 (+3). Braylon Plain tied for 5th with a 77 (+5), while Braden Doering and Luke Firsching tied for 15th with each shooting an 83 (+11) to round out scoring. Dawson Bertran shot an 86 (+14) and Trevyn Lyon shot an 87 (+15) to round out scoring.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 8th in the tournament with a team score of 383 (+95). The Cowboys top golfer would be sophomore Tristan Kakacek, who placed 28th with an 89 (+17). Carson Nesheim would place 35th with a 94 (+22), while Caleb Seaba was 39th with a 97 (+25). Landen Kakacek rounded out varsity scoring with a 103 (+31).
Webster City returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to St. Joseph in Kossuth County to compete in their Class 3A Sectional Meet at Spring Valley Golf Course. CGD returns to action on Wednesday when they compete in their Class 2A Sectional Meet at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo.
