Webster City, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track teams compete in NCC meet in Hampton

The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track teams returned to action on Thursday evening, as they competed in the annual North Central Conference meet at Hampton-Dumont-CAL High School in Hampton. The Lynx and Cowgirls were joined by conference foes Algona, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.

Webster City would not see an event win on Thursday, but picked up a handful of 2nd place finishes, the first in the sprint medley in a season-best time of 1:56.67 with the team of Tesdahl-Weinschenk-Savitski-Grossoehme. Cloe Savitski would follow this up with a 2nd place finish in the 100m Dash in a time of 13.02 seconds, before freshman Izzy Grossoehme placed 2nd in the 400m Dash in a time of 1:02.47. The Lynx would then place 2nd in the 4×200 relay in a season-best time of 1:52.66 with the team of Tesdahl-Wright-Gallentine-Savitski, before the 4×400 gave the Lynx their final runner-up spot in a season-best time of 4:21.69 with the team of Savitski-Tesdahl-Chamness-Grossoehme.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would pick up one win in the girls high jump, as junior Mikayla Beisel won by clearing 5′ even. Beisel would place 4th in the long jump with a mark of 14′ 11″, while also placing 3rd in the 100m hurdles in a time of 17.17.

Webster City placed 6th with 75 points, while Clarion-Goldfield-Dows was 8th with 35 points. Clear Lake was the team champion with 172.5 points.

Webster City returns to action on Thursday when they compete in their State Qualifying Meet at Clear Lake, while Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Monday when they compete at the Nevada Girls Invitational.
