South Hamilton, Roland-Story track compete in Heart of Iowa Conference meet

The South Hamilton Hawks and Roland-Story Norsemen track teams returned to action on Thursday evening, as they competed in the annual Heart of Iowa Conference track meet at South Hamilton High School in Jewell. The Hawks and Norsemen were joined by HOIAC members Greene County, Nevada, PCM, Perry, Saydel and West Marshall.

South Hamilton would see a number of event winners on Thursday, the first coming in the boys sprint medley, which won in a time of 1:34.99 with the team of Severseike-Gunderson-Hodnefield-Koehnk. The Hawks would then win the distance medley in a time of 3:44.10 with the team of Severseike-Drake-Ricke-Coburn, before going 1-2 in the 400m dash, with Ty Koehnk winning in a time of 50.11, while Kolby Hodnefield finished 2nd in 50.47. The Hawks would move on to a win in the boys 4×200 in a time of 1:31.95 with the team of Koehnk-Ricke-Severseike-Hodnefield. South Hamilton ended the night with sweeping the 4×400, as the girls won in a time of 4:19.30 with the team of Doolittle-Thompson-Galetich-Erickson, while the boys 4×400 won in a time of 3:22.99 with the team of Koehnk-Ricke-Severseike-Hodnefield.

Roland-Story would see a number of winners on Thursday, the first coming in the girls long jump with Adalyn Sporleder winning with a jump of 16′ even. The Norsemen would then win the girls sprint medley in a time of 1:54.04 with the team of Sporleder-Kilstofte-Petersen-Lande, before winning the shuttle hurdle in a time of 1:10.80 with the team of Jondle-Lucas-Scarrow-Helgeson. Roland-Story would the get a win in the 400m Dash from Matilde Motta, who won in a time of 1:04.73, before the girls 4×200 picked up a win in a season-best time of 1:46.79 with the team of Sporleder-Petersen-Kilstofte-Lande. Kam Lande then picked up an individual win in the girls 200m Dash, winning with a time of 26.19, the 4th-fastest time in Class 2A. The Norsemen ended the night by winning the girls 4×100 in a time of 50.70 with the team of Sporleder-Petersen-Kilstofte-Lande.

Roland-Story’s girls would claim the Heart of Iowa Conference title with 160.5 points, while South Hamilton placed 3rd with 113.5 points. Roland-Story’s boys would place 3rd with 107 points, while South Hamilton was 5th with 77 points.

Roland-Story and South Hamilton will return to action on Thursday, when they compete at their State Qualifying Meet at Roland-Story High School in Story City.
