Iowa State Patrol investigate SUV semi accident late Thursday afternoon near Randall.

The Iowa State Patrol investigated an accident late Thursday afternoon at  the 128 northbound mile marker of Interstate 35 east of Randall in southern Hamilton County. Reportedly a northbound 2011 Jeep Cherokee SUV operated by Jayden Shelton of Charles City was in the right lane of traffic when he attempted to pass another vehicle on their left. The Shelton SUV then struck the rear side of a northbound 2024 model Freightline semi operated by Victor Walker of Plattsmouth, Nebraska. The Shelton SUV then came to rest in the right side of the interstate highway. Shelton suffered a possible injury in Thursday’s accident. The Shelton SUV was totaled with only minor damage done to the semi operated by Walker. Investigating patrol trooper Andrew Hobart charged Jayden Shelton with Following Too Close.
