The Eagle Grove Eagles track teams returned to action on Thursday evening, as they made the trip across Wright County to compete at the Top of Iowa West Conference Meet at Belmond-Klemme High School in Belmond. The Eagles were joined by TOIW members Belmond-Klemme, Bishop Garrigan, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Lake Mills, North Iowa, North Union and West Hancock.
The Eagles would see a couple of winners, both on the girls side, as Addy Jeske won the girls long jump with a mark of 16′ 6.5″, while freshman Brylee Mrla was 2nd with a mark of 15′ 3.75″. Ayden Feske would then go on to win the girls 100m Dash in a time of 12.63, a new season-best and lifetime best. Other notable finishes for the girls saw the 4×100 place 3rd in a time of 52.99 with the team of Jeske-Figueroa-Morgan-Feske, while the 4×200 was 4th in a time of 1:53.09 with the team of Jeske-Morgan-Figueroa-Feske.
Eagle Grove’s boys would put together a solid meet, as Leelan Spencer place 5th in the 100m dash in a time of 11.61, a new lifetime best. Drake Canavan finished 6th in the 400m Dash in a time of 53.35, a new season-best, while Canavan also finished 5th in the 200m dash in a time of 24.24. Landon Mrla would place 4th in the long jump with a mark of 19′ 5″, while Syrus Willard placed 5th in the high jump with a mark of 5′ 8″.

Eagle Grove’s girls would place 7th with 40 points, while the boys placed 8th with 17 points. Forest City would sweep the conference titles. Eagle Grove returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in their State Qualifying Meet at Roland-Story.
