The Webster City Lynx boys tennis team returned to action on Wednesday morning, as they made the trip up into Cerro Gordo County to compete in the annual North Central Conference Tournament at Clear Lake High School. The Lynx were joined by the hosts Lions, as well as Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden, associate members Nevada and St. Edmond.
Webster City would see their top placer come in the doubles tournament with the team of Hank Christenson and Rogan Nepereny, as they placed 6th with a record of 2-2. Christenson and Nepereny would lose their first two matches, one to Brayden Moestchen and Theo Beisel of IF-A by a score of 8-1, before falling to Calvin Hutchinson and Lane Madden of IF-A 8-6. The duo would then beat HD-CAL’s Alexis Sosa and Kooper Tranel 8-5, before dominating HD-CAL’s Dominic Nicholson and Jaxson Rew 8-1.
The top placing individual would be Tyler Vasquez, who placed 7th in the tournament. Vasquez would fall to HD-CAL’s Andyn White 8-6, before bouncing back with an 8-6 win over Camren Madden of IF-A. Vasquez would split his last two matches, falling to IF-A’s Carson Allen 9-7, before ending his day with a win over HD-CAL’s Coleman Condon by a score of 8-6.
Webster City boys tennis returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Spencer to compete in their Class 1A District Tournament at Spencer High School.
