The Webster City Lynx soccer teams returned to action on Monday night, as they took on the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs in North Central Conference action. The Lynx boys would play their game in Hampton, while the Lynx girls hosted the Bulldogs at Lynx Field.
Webster City’s boys looked to keep their undefeated start alive, and once again got off to a fast start as Eduardo Perez assisted on an Eddy Fuentes goal in the 7th minute to put the Lynx up 1-0. The duo would come together again for Webster City’s 2nd goal in the 41st minute to give the Lynx a 2-0 advantage at halftime. The Lynx defense would hold serve to start the 2nd half, as Conner Peck converted a penalty kick in the 66th minute to give Webster City a 3-0 lead. Fernando Mota would get the Bulldogs on the board in the 70th minute to make it 3-1, but Webster City would hold serve for the 3-1 victory.
The Webster City girls looked to get back on the winning track after dropping their last 2 games and 4 of their last 5, and got off to a slower start a second time around against the Bulldogs, but still leading 2-0 at halftime. The flood gates opened up in the 2nd half of the Lynx, scoring 5 goals to wrap up a 7-0 shutout win. Sophomore Jayme Perez would score a hat trick, while freshman Sandra Fuentes-Cruz added 2 goals of her own. Senior Jillian Symens would have a phenomenal day distributing the ball, tallying 5 assists.
Webster City soccer returns to action on Thursday, when they host Wright County for a girls/boys doubleheader beginning at 5:30 PM.
