The Webster City Lynx boys soccer team returned to action on Friday evening, as they made the trip into Butler County for a Top 10 showdown in Class 2A as they faced the Falcons of Aplington-Parkersburg. The Lynx entered with a record of 5-0, while A-P entered at 8-1.
Webster City came out ready to play on Friday evening, taking just until the 5th minute to get on the board with an Eddy Fuentes goal off an Eduardo Perez assist in the 5th minute to put the Lynx ahead 1-0. A-P would answer back with a goal of their own in 17th minute to tie the score at 1-1, but that would be short-lived as Eddy Fuentes would score off another Eduardo Perez assist to put the Lynx up 2-1, a lead that would carry to halftime.
The 2nd half saw a similar start to the 1st half, as Eddy Perez picked up another hat trick with a goal off a Walfre Lopez assist to put the Lynx ahead 3-1. The Falcons would pickup a goal in the 53rd minute to make it 3-2, but a David Villelas goal off an Eric Torres assist in the 64th minute slammed the door shut on a comeback bid as the Lynx would hold on for a 4-2, top 10 victory.
Webster City soccer returns to action on Monday, when they host Clear Lake at Webster City High School at 7:30 PM.
