The Webster City Lynx girls tennis team returned to action on Thursday afternoon, as they hosted the Saydel Eagles in non-conference action at Webster City High School.
Webster City would start the day a tad slow, as Position 1 saw Allie Severe fall to Lizzy Nicholson 8-5, but McKinzey Koestner set the tone for the remainder of the meet with a dominant 8-2 victory over Sophia Lund in Position 2. Cyra Christensen would shut out Maila Whisler in Position 3, 8-0, before Perla Torres picked up her first varsity win over McKayla Wood by a score of 8-6. Alivia Burns would dominate Millie Pick 8-1 in Position 5, as Gabbie Sebert held off Izzy Smith 8-5 as Webster City led 5-1 going into doubles.
Saydel would take the opening doubles match by a score of 9-7, but Allie Severe and Alivia Burns dominated the 2nd match by a score of 8-1, before Hailey Brim and Morgan Hackbarth picked up an 8-4 win to seal a 7-2 meet victory for the Lynx.
Webster City girls tennis returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Hampton to face Hampton-Dumont-CAL at Progress Park.
