The Webster City Lynx, Eagle Grove Eagles and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track teams returned to action on Thursday afternoon, as Webster City hosted the Lynx Relays at Webster City High School. Joining the Lynx, Eagles and Cowgirls were Algona, Bishop Garrigan, Mason City Newman and Perry.
Webster City would finish runner-up in the meet, starting off their day by going 1-2 in the shot put, as Adysen Poppen won with a throw of 34′ 5″, while Jakaela Cherry was 2nd with a throw of 32′ 11″. The Lynx sprint medley would take home the only win of the night, winning in a time of 1:59.13 with the team of Weinschenk-Gallentine-Savitski-Grossoehme, their time a new season-best. Cloe Savitski would place 2nd in the 100m dash in a time of 13.36, while also leading off the 2nd place 4×200, which ran a time of 1:54.34 with the team of Savitski-Gallentine-Tesdahl-Weinschenk. Isabel Grossoehme would place 2nd in the 400m dash in a time of 1:08.84, while also placing 3rd in the 800m run in a time of 2:54.20. Addy Tesdahl would place 3rd in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:15.61.
Eagle Grove would place 4th in the meet, but took home numerous event winners on the night. Addyson Jeske would win the long jump with a mark of 16′ 3.5″, while Ayden Feske picked up a win in the 100m dash in a time of 13.25 seconds. The Eagles would cap the night with a win in the 4×100, winning in a new season-best mark of 53.37 with the team of Jeske-Figueroa-Morgan-Feske. Other notable finishes saw Ayden Feske place 2nd in the 200m dash in a time of 28.56, while the 4×200 placed 3rd in a time of 1:55.71 with the team of Feske-Jeske-Morgan-Figueroa.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would not pick up a win on Thursday, but Mikayla Beisel would place 2nd in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:12.81.
Webster City was 2nd with 138 points, Eagle Grove was 4th with 76 points and CGD was 6th with 61 points. Algona was the team champion with 200 points.
Webster City’s girls return to action on Monday when they compete at Humboldt, while Eagle Grove and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows return to action on Monday when they compete at Lake Mills.
