The Webster City Lynx boys golf team made the trip north and west on Monday morning, to compete in the 18-hole Spencer Tournament at Spencer Golf and Country Club. The Lynx were joined by the host Tigers, as well as Algona, Carroll, Carroll Kuemper, Cherokee, Clear Lake, Denison-Schleswig, Emmetsburg, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Harlan, Humboldt, Spirit Lake, Storm Lake and Western Christian.
Webster City would place 3rd with with a team score of 315 (+27), one stroke behind NCC-rivals Humboldt and 4 strokes behind team champion Carroll Kuemper. Senior Braden Doering and Braylon Plain were the top Lynx golfers, shooting 75’s (+3) each and tying for 3rd with Carroll Kuemper’s Maverick Schwabe and Cherokee’s Drew Spooner. Trevyn Lyons would finish with a score of 82 (+10), tied for 26th with 5 other golfers, while Cael Nixon shot an 83 (+11), which tied him for 32nd to round out varsity scoring.
Webster City boys golf returns Thursday, when they host Humboldt and Clear Lake at Links Public Golf Course in Webster City.
